Privacy notice

This notice explains GrappleLinks’ activity analytics and the member information used alongside them.

What we collect and why

We use activity analytics to understand which techniques people find useful, improve search and discovery, identify content that needs attention, and compare the performance of featured content, homepage sections, and homepage coach and academy placements.

  • Technique cards visible on screen, technique-page opens, clicks to original video platforms, saves and removals, and manual "Mark watched" marks and removals.
  • Search words and result counts, including searches with no results, plus category visits and filter selections. Search words are shortened to 80 characters; please do not enter personal or sensitive information in searches.
  • Visible Featured Techniques, Tips of the Week and homepage coach or academy placements, clicks on them, coach and academy profile visits, and clicks on their existing website links.
  • Views of and clicks on homepage sections, such as the main banner, search boxes, community links, category tiles and the Rising Star section. These records note which section was involved, not which technique, member, coach, academy, feature or placement was shown.
  • On-site sign-up requests accepted by the sign-up service, technique submissions, and coach or academy applications. A sign-up request does not establish that email confirmation was completed.
  • Event dates, page paths, the relevant technique or feature, and where an action came from on the site. Tagged campaign or referral links may supply source, medium, campaign and referral labels, which are associated with subsequent activity during the visit.

Visible-item impressions are recorded when at least half of the item or section, or for a very tall one half of the screen, is visible for one second, and are counted at most once per page visit. They indicate visibility, not that someone read it. We record technique-page opens, outbound video clicks and manual watched marks separately. None proves that a video was played, viewed or completed. We do not track video playback progress, off-site sales or bookings.

Analytics uses randomly generated browser and visit identifiers. When you are signed in, recorded activity is associated with your account ID. Analytics records do not include IP addresses, full user agents, email addresses, passwords, submission text or application text. Search words and limited campaign labels are exceptions to our avoidance of free text. Leaving content identifiers out of homepage-section records does not remove the browser, visit or signed-in account identifiers from detailed activity records.

Separately from analytics, accounts, profiles, saves, watched marks, submissions and applications store the information needed to provide those services, including the information you choose to submit. Your account email is used for sign-in and account communications; it is not added to the activity analytics records.

Browser storage and external services

The browser identifier is stored in local storage and remains until that storage is cleared. The visit identifier, campaign labels and navigation attribution are stored in session storage for the browser session. These help count distinct browsers and associate on-site actions with discovery sources; they do not reliably identify unique people across devices. Account sign-in uses separate browser storage to maintain your session.

GrappleLinks' database is hosted in the eastern United States. Other cloud services we use may store or process information in other locations, including outside Canada. Lovable also provides aggregate site-traffic analytics and operational diagnostics. The limits on our activity records described here are not a claim that hosting or external services never process technical connection information.

YouTube videos use the privacy-enhanced player at youtube-nocookie.com. Loading or interacting with an embedded player connects your browser to YouTube; privacy-enhanced mode does not make YouTube anonymous or free of its own data processing. Instagram, Facebook and TikTok players load only after you press "Load video", and they connect your browser to those companies under their own policies. Videos on these platforms stay on those platforms and are governed by their policies. Following a video or website link takes you to another service governed by its own privacy policy.

Some videos are uploaded directly to GrappleLinks. These files are kept in private storage and are played through short-lived private links. When a file is uploaded, it is checked automatically and a fingerprint of the file is stored to help Admins spot duplicate submissions.

Who can see it

Activity reports are restricted to GrappleLinks admins and show aggregate totals, trends and outcomes. Activity from the site owner's own account is excluded from reports. Anonymous visitor activity is available only as totals, not individual visitor histories. Search terms appear in reports only when at least three distinct browser identifiers searched for that term in the selected period.

Admins can use a restricted member-history view to see a signed-in member's recorded technique-page opens and their current saved and marked-watched techniques, with dates. Each access to this history is logged with the admin, member and time.

Your watched list is not shown to other members. New member profiles are public by default. You can make your profile private at any time in your account settings. Saved video titles and links appear on your member profile only while that profile is public; a private profile and its saves are hidden from visitors. Only you can manage your saved and watched lists. Public-profile saved titles are separate from the admin-only analytics history.

How long we keep it

Detailed activity events and the member-history admin access log are kept until they are deleted. A clean-up is scheduled to remove older records. Its actual runs have not been confirmed, and no deletion timeline is known. Any daily summary counts we create from activity events exclude browser, visit and member identifiers, search words and campaign labels. They may include the relevant content or placement identifiers, but not who interacted with them.

Your account, and the current saves and watched marks needed to provide your lists, remain until you remove them or the account or associated technique is deleted. If your member profile is deleted, your account ID is removed from detailed activity records; their browser and visit identifiers remain.

Directly uploaded video files are kept while a submission or technique uses them. A clean-up is scheduled to remove files that are no longer used. Its actual runs have not been confirmed, and no deletion timeline is known.

Your choices

When your browser exposes a Global Privacy Control signal or sets Do Not Track to “1”, GrappleLinks’ activity tracker does not send new analytics events, whether or not you are signed in. This does not remove existing records, stop the storage needed for account features, or control Lovable’s site-traffic analytics or third-party services.

You can clear browser storage to remove the local analytics identifiers; a new identifier may be created on your next tracked visit. Clearing storage does not delete records already received and may sign you out. You can change your profile visibility and remove saved or watched marks using your account controls.

Friends, messages, blocks and reports

**Member directory.** Signed-in and signed-out visitors can search a directory of members whose profiles are public. It shows display name, @handle, Jiu-Jitsu rank and training academy, never email addresses. Private profiles do not appear.

**Friend requests and friends.** When you send a friend request, we store who sent it, who received it, its status and the dates it was sent and accepted. Only you and the other member can see your requests and friend list. Declining or cancelling a request deletes it, and removing a friend deletes the friendship.

**Private messages.** Accepted friends can send each other private messages. When you send a coach a Private Lesson Request, we store the name, email, preferred days or times and message you enter, and share them only with that coach. For all conversations we store each message's sender, text, and when it was sent and read. On the site, only the two people in a conversation can read it. GrappleLinks admins have no site feature for opening or reading conversations, with one exception: when a member reports another member and links the report to a conversation, admins can view that conversation, including the original text of any messages deleted in it, so they can review the report. Messages are stored with our cloud hosting providers, so people with direct access to those hosting systems could technically access stored data. New messages may be delivered instantly while you are signed in. Analytics records only that a lesson request was sent, never its contents, and does not record friend activity or messages.

**Deleting messages and removing conversations.** You can delete a message you sent. Its text is removed from both people's view of the conversation and replaced with a "Message deleted" note, and this cannot be undone. The original text is kept in a restricted record that only GrappleLinks admins can see, and only while reviewing a report linked to that conversation. A clean-up is scheduled to permanently erase the original text, unless the conversation is linked to a member report. Its actual runs have not been confirmed, and no deletion timeline is known. If the conversation is linked to a member report, the original text is kept so the report can be reviewed, until the report or the conversation is deleted. If either account in the conversation is deleted, the conversation, its messages and any kept original text are deleted too. You can also remove a conversation from your own inbox. This hides it only for you; the other person keeps their copy, and the conversation reappears for you if a new message arrives, showing only messages sent after you removed it.

**Blocking.** If you block a member, we store that you blocked them and when. Only you can see your block list. Blocking removes any friendship or pending request between you, hides you from each other in the member directory, and prevents new friend requests, messages and lesson requests in both directions. Earlier messages stay in the conversation unless an account is deleted. You can unblock a member at any time.

**Reporting a member.** You can report a member for harassment, spam, impersonation or another reason, with optional details. We store the report, who sent it, who it is about, whether it came from a conversation, and its review status. GrappleLinks admins review reports and see the members' names and @handles, not email addresses. The reported member is not shown the report or told who made it. Any details you include are stored as written, so please do not include sensitive information you do not want reviewed. If either account involved is deleted, whether it belongs to the person who made the report or the person it is about, the report is deleted too and is no longer available for review.

If you suggest a feature, we keep your title, description and the request's status. GrappleLinks Admins can see your name and account email so they can reply. Other members cannot see your requests or your email.

Deleting your account or an academy

You can delete your account in your account settings after confirming your password. This removes your profile, photos, saved and watched lists, submissions, reports, contributor points and recognition, academy memberships, friend requests and friendships, blocks you made or received, member reports you made or that were made about you, all your private conversations including friend chats and lesson requests (for both you and the other person), and any academy you are the only owner of. Published technique listings you contributed stay in the library without your name; videos on external platforms remain there under those platforms' control. After your account is deleted, video files you uploaded directly are set to be removed from our storage by the same scheduled clean-up. Its actual runs have not been confirmed, and no deletion timeline is known. A published technique that used one of these files may no longer play. Retained analytics events have your account ID removed. Academy owners can also delete an academy, which removes its page and listings and unlinks its coaches and members without affecting their accounts.
