FOUNDER STORY

The Story Behind GRAPPLELINKS

While waiting for spinal surgery, I began building GRAPPLELINKS as a way to stay connected to Jiu-Jitsu and give something back to a community that has meant so much to me.

I live with degenerative disc disease and lumbar foraminal stenosis. As my condition progressed, chronic pain and limited mobility changed nearly every part of my life. After approximately 25 years as a professional painter, including running my own business, I had to close my company. I also had to step away from training and coaching Jiu-Jitsu the way I once did.

Martial arts have been part of my life for decades. They've given me purpose, friendships and a sense of belonging. Even when I could no longer participate physically, I wasn't ready to lose that connection.

GRAPPLELINKS began as a simple way to collect and share technique videos with friends. There is incredible Jiu-Jitsu knowledge scattered across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and personal video collections. I wanted to bring that knowledge together in one organized place where people could easily discover, watch, save and learn from it.

But the vision has grown beyond just videos.

A technique can introduce you to the coach who teaches it. That coach can lead you to their academy, and that academy can connect you with members and students who share your passion for Jiu-Jitsu. These connections work both ways, helping members discover new techniques and instructors while giving coaches and academies an opportunity to connect with a wider community.

The goal is to build something more than a technique library—a connected Jiu-Jitsu community where knowledge, people and opportunities come together, regardless of where in the world you train.

GRAPPLELINKS is still growing, and every person who visits, shares the site, contributes a technique or offers feedback helps shape its future.

Thank you for taking the time to explore what I've been building. Your support means more to me than you may realize, and I'm genuinely grateful to have you here.
