About the Academy

𝗕𝗘𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗛𝗘 — 𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗛𝗘, 𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗨𝗚𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗬 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 Beyond Peniche is a modern, multidisciplinary martial arts and fitness academy located in Peniche, Portugal. Founded by Professor Alexandre (Alex) Pereira, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo black belt, the academy is dedicated to providing quality instruction in a welcoming, supportive, and progressive training environment. Building on the foundations of Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Peniche, established in 2015, Beyond Peniche opened its new training facility in 2025 with a broader vision of bringing martial arts, physical fitness, recovery, and community together under one roof. At Beyond Peniche, training is about more than developing technical skills. The academy emphasizes discipline, perseverance, personal growth, and the confidence that comes from challenging personal limits. Whether students are beginners, recreational practitioners, or competitive athletes, Beyond provides an environment where individuals can develop their abilities and work toward their personal goals. Located in one of Portugal's most recognized surfing destinations, Beyond Peniche also embraces the connection between martial arts, fitness, and surf culture. Through international training camps, visiting practitioners, and community events, the academy brings together people from different backgrounds who share a passion for learning, movement, and continuous improvement. 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦 & 𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗦 Beyond Peniche offers a modern, well-equipped training facility designed to support martial arts, physical conditioning, and post-training recovery. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮: Dedicated upstairs mat room providing space for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, grappling, technical drilling, and sparring. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 & 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Equipped gym and functional fitness training area. 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗮: Infrared sauna located within the academy's dedicated recovery area. 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲: Cold-water immersion facilities available in the recovery room. 𝗦𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸: On-site skatepark complementing the academy's active lifestyle and surf culture. 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Conveniently situated directly opposite the Peniche bus terminal, providing easy access for local members and visiting athletes. 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗟𝗘 Beyond Peniche offers approximately 22 scheduled martial arts sessions per week, Monday through Saturday, with morning, lunchtime, and evening training opportunities. Regular Friday and Saturday open mats provide additional time for independent drilling, sparring, and skill development. The academy also hosts special training events and international Jiu-Jitsu camps.
